Job Description and Expectations

All production team press operators are responsible for ensuring quality printing and the full production process using automatic screen printing machinery. They demonstrate a high level of efficiency, attention to detail, and are excellent multitaskers. They also perform regular equipment maintenance, help manage stock of inks and other products, and they maintain a clean and organized production area. The press operator must be able to setup, register, print, and breakdown a job quickly with or without the help of another team member. A team member who excels at running the automatic press will likely work on press as their primary position, but all production team members help with other aspects of production, catching, burning screens, and reclaiming screens at some points throughout the week. It is important to rotate responsibilities and positions from time to time, and it is important that all production team members are cross trained to support breaks and vacations.

The role of the Lead Printer/Production Manager is to show leadership and efficiency in all aspects of production. They are the MVP in all positions, but specifically excel on press and enjoy leading a team. They are able to flex to the every changing needs of the production schedule and they can rearrange team members to be the most efficient in order to meet the goals of the day. They also supervise further training and development of members of staff. On key days, the Lead Printer may be the primary person to set up, print, and break down orders after delegating needs of the day to the team. During slower days or when others are “training,” the Lead Printer will also help count inventory for orders, fold and prepare garments for printing, aid in the screen reclaiming process, or perform any other general task that may be needed to support the business. They are high energy, adept, flexible, encouraging, communicative, inclusive and decisive.

Qualifications and Skills

- Must be able and comfortable with set up, take down, and printing jobs on and automatic press throughout the day with or without the aid of others
- Must have a work history and be comfortable operating and automatic screen printing press (preferably M&R Sportsman EX, and or M&R Cobra automatic press or equivalent)
- Should enjoy collaboration and communication of all types
- Must be open to pushing the limits of new print techniques and efficiency to support business growth including research
- Must be able to ensure quality printing on a wide range of products, with a wide range of techniques with efficiency and effectiveness
- Strategic planning, systematic organization, attention to detail, and thoroughness are required skills
- Managing competing priorities, adjusting, and flexing to the ever-changing needs of the business is a must
- Must be comfortable providing daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance to the presses, dryer, and other production equipment
- Must be able to lift boxes that weigh up to 40lbs and help customers load their cars with orders from time to time
- Must be able perform repetitive motion behaviors on a daily basis with arms, wrist, back, and shoulders
- Requires the ability to lean over tables in order to fold garments. 
- Experience with increasing sales through social media strategies and email marketing would be an added bonus
- Must be project focused and always looking to improve efficiency through behaviors and dedicated systems
- Helps with all aspects of the production process

LEAD PRINTER/PRODUCTION MANAGER
- This position requires a flexible and energetic personality who thrives in a team atmosphere, but also excels in self-management as well as the management of others
- Must set the example as a leader and hold others accountable through coaching, training, verbal and written feedback, and potential corrective action
- Sets the standard for all the points listed above
- Helps review the production schedule and keeps the team on track through delegation, planning, communication, and flexing
- Considers what is the highest priority, and clearly attacks and delegates to keep the flow of things moving quickly
- Is passionate about meeting and exceeding timelines and production goals

Core Responsibilities

- Works hand-in-hand with sales team and production team to deliver top notch quality printing in a timely manner
- Helps manage production schedule with production team on a daily and weekly basis to ensure orders are printed and shipped in a timely manner
- Coordinates with production regarding job-specific print details by providing coaching and feedback to team members as needed
- Checks and inspects print quality to ensure each print matches the proof and coaches the team to hold the high quality expectations as well
- Researches products and processes online or through other networking methods that will continue personal learning, and help develop systems and strategies that will lead to individual and team success and overall company growth
- Uses the internet and other resources for troubleshooting tips and techniques when necessary
- Helps monitor inventory of supplies to ensure production stays in motion
- Must be willing to help in other areas of production (burning and reclaiming screens, maintenance, cleanliness)
- Must have reliable transportation

Additional Expectations

This role is primarily for Screen Printing Press Operator, however, ALL team member supports each other in the following ways from time to time, as needed.
- All team members help support production needs from time to time.
- All team members help count and inventory goods pre and post production in order to ensure quality standards are met
- All team members can help with production needs including exposing and rinsing screens and helping with the print process from time to time
- All team members help with shipping and receiving by monitoring UPS and USPS from time to time
- May be asked to drive for work purposes from time to time
- All production team members help in all areas of production from time to time
